Shopping
Based on the small population of the island, there are only few enough retail shops located in various parts of the island. These shops are located in the own homes consisting only consumer goods for the daily needs of the households. However,some shops have limited stock of hardware items.
Most of the luxury goods and the items needed for the construction are brought from Male' (the capital city) when needed.
Agriculture
Vaadhoo has a large area of unused land which is enough for massive agriculture. However, only few people are involved in the agriculture industry. The Island office grants land with few formalities for the people who have interest in agriculture..
The main food production involves coconuts, water mellon, chili, papaya, pumpkin, breadfruit, guava and water apple. Most of the products are consumed by the local people, but only few are being sold to Male' and neighboring islands.
Fishing
Engine vessels are used for fishing. Most of the fish catch are consumed in the island, however only few are being sold. Some small fishing boats do the fishing around the cost of the island reef for delicious reef fish.
Animal Farming
Chickens are the main animals harvested in the island. However these chickens are also harvested only for the consumption of the local population.
There is also a small goat farm owned by a private individual.
